Ad rules and community standards
polappka is a local noticeboard for the Polish community in the UK. These rules apply to everything published on it: ads, photos, links and profile details. They are part of our Terms (section 11).
Zero tolerance. We do not tolerate objectionable content or abusive users. Anything that breaks these rules is removed, and the accounts responsible are suspended or closed.
Not allowed
- Anything illegal in the UK, or an offer of something you may not legally sell or provide.
- Sexual content, adult or escort services, and nudity.
- Anything that sexualises or endangers children. We report it to the police (see Child safety).
- Hate, harassment, threats or discrimination. Job and rental ads may not exclude people because of race, nationality, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability or age, except where UK law allows it.
- Scams and money-muling, including jobs that charge applicants and rentals that ask for money before a viewing.
- Misleading ads: false prices, fake reviews, or pretending to be another person or business.
- Other people's personal data or photos without their permission.
- Links to malware, phishing or other harmful websites.
- Spam: the same ad posted repeatedly, or an ad in the wrong category.
How ads are checked
Every ad is checked before it goes live, and every edit is checked again. Checks are automated, and a person reviews anything that is flagged.
Reporting
Tap Report on any ad, or e-mail info@polappka.com. We review reports within 24 hours. Three reports from established accounts hide an ad straight away until we have checked it.
What happens when the rules are broken
- The content is removed, and we tell the advertiser why.
- Serious or repeated breaches lead to the account being suspended or closed.
- A closed account cannot simply be replaced with a new one: we keep a one-way fingerprint of the phone number and e-mail used, as explained on Delete your account.
- Illegal content is reported to the police.
Appeals
If you think we got it wrong, reply to our message within 14 days. Someone who was not involved in the original decision will review it.
